Shine His Light

“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” Luke 8:16-17 NIV
We are meant to put ourselves on display for God. He has given each of us gifts (skills) to use to reach His lost, but we often don’t use them because we’re afraid to call attention to ourselves. There are many times that I don’t want to be seen by the world because to be seen leaves me open to being judged.
Satan will use things we’re not proud of to keep us from sharing God’s light. He’s whispered to me, “What would people think of you if they found out ____? You’re a hypocrite. You can’t reflect God’s light; you’re not good enough.”
     These are all ploys.
When we hide things, we hide God’s work in our lives. We are telling people that He can or will only redeem or forgive those we are willing to share (the not so bad things). We need to stop trying to hide these things and allow them to bring God the glory He deserves.
If we are the ones to disclose the things we are ashamed of and show how God worked through them and used them in our lives, then we will have power over them. But, if we wait in hiding until someone finds these things out, they will have power over us.
